U.S. Issues Level 4 Travel Advisories for Multiple Countries: High Risks for American Travelers.

- Afghanistan is under advisory due to armed conflict, civil unrest, crime, terrorism, and kidnapping. The U.S. Embassy in Kabul ceased operations in 2021. 

- Belarus is under advisory due to arbitrary enforcement of laws, risk of detention, facilitation of Russia's war against Ukraine, civil unrest, and limited ability for the U.S. Embassy to assist citizens. 

- Burkina Faso is under advisory due to the threat of crime, kidnapping, and terrorism. 

- Burma (Myanmar) is under advisory due to armed conflict, civil unrest, and limited healthcare resources.

- North Korea is under advisory due to the serious risk of arrest and long-term detention of U.S. nationals.

- Russia is under advisory due to the consequences of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the risk of wrongful detention of U.S. nationals. 

- Somalia is under advisory due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, health issues, kidnapping, piracy, and lack of availability of routine consular services. 

- South Sudan is under advisory due to crime, kidnapping, and armed conflict.

- Sudan is under advisory due to armed conflict, crime, including kidnapping, armed robbery, home invasions, and carjackings, as well as the risk of terrorist attacks. 

- Syria is under advisory due to the threat of terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, armed conflict, and the risk of unjust detention. 

- Ukraine is under advisory for frontline regions and regions near the Belarus border due to the presence of Russian and Belarusian military and security forces, active ground combat, frequent shelling, missile and drone attacks, and limitations on the U.S. Embassy's ability to provide assistance. 

- Venezuela is under advisory due to the high risk of wrongful detentions, terrorism, kidnapping, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, crime, civil unrest, and poor health infrastructure. 

- Yemen is under advisory due to the threats of terrorism, civil unrest, crime, health risks, kidnapping, armed conflict, and landmines. 

- Partial advisories have also been issued for select regions of Mexico.
