What is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day? How is important?

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the United States that is observed on the third Monday in January. It is a day to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister and civil rights leader who played a key role in the American civil rights movement.

On this day, people across the country engage in service projects and other activities to honor Dr. King's commitment to social justice and equality. Many schools, businesses, and organizations are closed on this day, and some people have the day off from work.
